Sara Sommervold, Deputy Director: Sara joined the CWC as the Intake Attorney in 2014. The following year she became a fellow with the CWC responsible for developing and teaching the undergraduate summer internship program in addition to overseeing the Center’s intake process, its volunteers, while also writing about and researching causes and consequences of wrongful convictions. Sara created and implemented the CWC Pro Bono Law Firm project. She has presented to law firms and criminal justice organizations around the country on the causes and consequences of wrongful convictions and how to assess potential wrongful conviction cases. She focuses her scholarship on women and wrongful convictions and works on women’s post-conviction and clemency cases, in addition to supporting the case work of wrongfully convicted men. As a member of the CWC leadership team, Sara collaborates and implements development and outreach strategies to further the mission of the CWC.
